The City of Shueyville has a population of only 735 people but the surrounding rural area makes it a gathering place for the entire northern Johnson County. The small businesses, church, restaurants and City Hall are a hub of activity. The new playground will be located at Shueyville United Methodist Church and serve the kids that attend All God’s Children preschool and childcare, the church youth, as well as the families in Shueyville and surrounding rural areas. Scout meetings are held at the church as well as many other church and non-church related meetings and celebrations that bring families together. The playground will serve as a center for fitness; a safe and appealing place for children to play will encourage them to engage in more physical activity.

Why is this important?All God’s Children and the Shueyville United Methodist Church see this playground as an investment in the community in which physical, social, emotional and cognitive learning will take place. The playground encourages fun, healthy, physical play for all youth in our community and the outlying areas that congregate there.
